BARBOUR INTERNATIONAL is a brand in its own right, inspired by the world of motorcycling according to BARBOUR. In 1936, Duncan Barbour added the “Barbour International” to the collection, a jacket developed specifically for the ISDT (International Six Day Trials), a six-day international enduro competition. The Barbour International then became the jacket of choice for most British teams and many other international teams until 1977.
During the 1964 ISDT in East Germany, the Barbour International was worn by all members of the American team, including actor Steve McQueen and the legendary stuntman Bud Ekins (who directed the famous closing jump in the movie “The Great Escape”).
